Guardians come up short in East Coast v. West Coast weekend
This weekend the San Diego Guardians took on the #1 ranked team in American Basketball Association, Richmond Elite. On Saturday December 9th, the two teams battled it out at Grossmont College. The game was intense and the Guardians looked poised to pull out an upset, but after the team suffered a huge injury to a key piece; player coach Jerry Dupree to a knee injury, stunning the team in the 4th quarter the Elite were able to run away with lead and the game winning 124-105.
The second of 2 games for the weekend came Sunday December 10th when the Guardians were back home hosting the #10 ranked Baltimore Hawks. This game was another good one as the Guardians went into the half with a 6 point lead. Up against the Hawks the Guardians looked to be in position to redeem themselves and bring home a win for the West Coast. The Hawks didn’t go away easily, the back and forth 3rd quarter between the 2 teams made this a nail biter, with the Hawks taking a 3 point lead midway through the 4th neither team could really pull away. The game to was a low scoring one and once again the Guardians could not find a way to close the deal losing a close game 77-80.
